ContaCam

Lots of functionality is offered for the great price of free by the video surveillance application ContaCam. You can use ContaCam to view and record footage from a variety of cams. You can use ContaCam to open and view images. You can also use this application to join together multiple AVI files. And that's not all!

ContaCam can be installed on a PC powered by anything from Windows XP up to Windows 8. There is nothing complicated about the installation process: download an installer, run it, click through the setup wizard’s instructions.

While ContaCam is running you will see an icon in the system tray. Double click the icon to see ContaCam’s interface. On the interface, a few recommendations are listed: make sure your video capture is plugged in and drivers for the device are installed; select the device you want to use from the Capture menu; and more.

From the ContaCam interface you will be able to access the following functionality: view footage from a cam that is connected to your machine or from an IP cam; record footage from the cam; take a snapshot, snapshot scheduling; Device Assistant; movement detection; open, view, edit images; import images from a scanner; batch convert and rename images; create a slideshow; take a screenshot; join AVI files.

ContaCam is free software. You have all the time in the world to get accustomed to the interface and to explore all the functionality it has to offer.
